My general consulting rate for all things design-related is $80/hr.

I meter my time strictly, and bill clients only for the time I’m actively working on their projects. (i.e. I’m not like the stereotypical lawyer who manages to log 13 billable hours in a day and still manage to spend the afternoon on the golf course). Depending on the size and timeframe of the project, I operate on a 25-50% deposit, and submit invoices on completion of agreed-upon milestones. If you prefer a quote upfront, please be extremely detailed in your brief, and I will quote a figure for your project.
